A Week With Grammy and Gramps

My parents came to visit last week, and we had a wonderful time. Their real motivation was to find warmer weather, but they just happen to get me with it!

On Friday, January 6th, we packed up our little car and headed to Anaheim to meet my parents. We checked in at my favorite, inexpensive hotel and walked over to The Cheesecake Factory to eat and meet my parents. That evening Shay took the kiddos hot-tubbing and I watched the tube with my parents.

We spent Saturday at Knott's Berry Farm.

On Sunday we went to church in Anaheim and then headed to La Brea Tar Pits Museum, where a whole bunch of bones were preserved in tar and are now being excavated and studied.

After the museum, Shay headed home (he had to work the next day) and we headed to a hotel in Hollywood.

On Monday we hit up Universal Studios. The weather was perfect and we didn't have to wait in line for anything!

The Lorax is the only character that Embrie touched. She walked right up to him and grabbed his hand, but quickly realized she was out of her comfort zone (too quickly for me to get a pic). She's a big Dr. Suess fan!

After Universal Studios we drove back to Lompoc. We spent the next two days local. We shopped, went to the park, and ate. On Wednesday evening we went to dinner at Mi Amore Pizza and Pasta, where Embrie had a little mishap with the floor. She leaned over too far in her booster seat and plummeted face first to the floor. Look at her poor little big lip.

After Shay finished work on Thursday, we headed north to Monterey, where we met up with my sister, Heather and niece, Mackenzie. The next morning we went to Monterey Bay Aquarium to check out the fish. I was prepared like normal and came fully equipped with my dead camera. Fortunately I took lots of pics with my dad's camera. Unfortunately I don't have any of the pics right now. Anyway, we all had fun. Embrie really enjoyed all the fish and pulled Aunt Heather all around the aquarium so they could look at them together. 

Afterward we said our goodbyes and headed back south. My parents headed home with Heather.

Did I ever mention that I love that my parents are semi-retired and that they love to road trip?
