Last Tuesday morning we woke up in the hotel to the smell of cigarette smoke and the sound of Embrie wheezing and coughing. Shay and I thought Embrie was having an asthmatic episode like Cayben did as a baby. Embrie was in good spirits the entire trip and didn't act sick. She just had a wicked cough and her breathing sounded nasty. On Wednesday night we stayed in Jackpot on our way home, and her symptoms peeked. Her breathing became very labored and fast and she had a low-grade fever. She was smiling and happy the whole time and her color looked fine. We debated on taking her to the hospital in Twin Falls, but decided to wait it out and watch her closely. On Thursday we got home, and I took her to her doctor. Turns out she has RSV. I'm glad it's not asthma, but it tortures me to just have to wait out a virus and not be able to do anything for my babe. Oh, and she has an ear infection too, so she's on antibiotics. She's still a happy little girl though!
On Sunday Cayben woke up with a nasty cough, slept most the day, and had a fever. He maintained a fever of about 102 degrees for 3 days. Tylenol did nothing for the fever. I took him to the doctor on Tuesday because his symptoms seemed so different than Embrie's symptoms. His problems are all upper respiratory, but he has a virus as well. His fever finally broke on Wednesday. Both Embrie and Cayben are doing much better, although they both still have a cough. Sick babies make me really appreciate that they are healthy most the time.
